Overview
Nano Banana 2 is Google's fast, general-purpose image model, served in the Gemini API as Gemini 3.1 Flash Image. The zurelay Nano Banana 2 API turns a text prompt into 1K, 2K or 4K images through an OpenAI-style images endpoint, at 63% below Google's price per image, and checks every image against Google's official size.
Google released Nano Banana 2 in preview on February 26, 2026, and it has been stable since May 28, 2026. Its API name is Gemini 3.1 Flash Image. Google positions it as the high-efficiency counterpart to Nano Banana Pro, tuned for speed and high-volume developer use, and calls it a versatile, general-purpose model that still reaches 4K. On zurelay, the Nano Banana 2 API uses the model ID nano-banana-2 and costs from $0.025 per 1K image to $0.058 per 4K image.
Each resolution has its own price, at Google and on zurelay. Google lists $0.067 for a 1K image and $0.151 for a 4K image. zurelay charges $0.025 and $0.058, with 2K priced in between, and the price table on this page shows all three. You pay per image generated, and failed attempts are not billed.
On zurelay, output comes in three resolutions (1K, 2K and 4K) and ten aspect ratios: 1:1, 2:3, 3:2, 3:4, 4:3, 4:5, 5:4, 9:16, 16:9 and 21:9. Google's own API adds a smaller 0.5K size and four extra-tall or extra-wide ratios (1:4, 4:1, 1:8 and 8:1), which zurelay doesn't offer. Every image carries Google's invisible SynthID watermark, which identifies it as AI-generated.
Send a prompt to POST /v1/images/generations with size set to 1K, 2K or 4K and an optional aspect_ratio, the same request shape as Nano Banana Pro. You get up to 4 images per request, as a URL or as base64. zurelay checks every image's pixel dimensions against Google's official size for the resolution and ratio you asked for, so a smaller model can't pass as Nano Banana 2. An image that doesn't match counts as a failed attempt.
Strengths
Google tunes Nano Banana 2 for speed and high-volume use, and lists it below Nano Banana Pro at every resolution.
Use 1K for drafts and thumbnails, 2K for the web and 4K for print and hero banners, each at its own price.
Every image is measured against Google's official pixel size for your resolution and ratio, so a cheaper model can't stand in for it.
Ten aspect ratios, from 21:9 banners to 9:16 stories, so you generate at the target format instead of cropping.
Use cases
Generate large sets of product shots, thumbnails and variations, where the cost per image adds up.
Make posts, stories and banners in the exact aspect ratio each placement needs.
Explore layouts and concepts at 1K, then move the final to Nano Banana Pro when it needs Pro's world knowledge and precise creative control.
Render posters, wallpapers and print assets at 4K without a separate upscaling step.

zurelay charges one price per resolution: $0.025 for a 1K image, rising to $0.058 at 4K, with 2K priced in between. Google's list price is $0.067 at 1K and $0.151 at 4K, so you save 63% on a 1K image. You pay per image generated, and failed attempts are not billed.
Yes. zurelay serves nano-banana-2 at 63% below Google's list price for a 1K image. It is the same model: every image is checked against Google's official output size for your request, so a smaller model can't pass as it. One key covers Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro and the text models in the catalog.
POST to https://api.zurelay.com/v1/images/generations with model set to nano-banana-2, your prompt, size set to 4K and an aspect_ratio such as 16:9. size also accepts pixel sizes like 1024x1536, which map to the nearest resolution and ratio. 4K images are billed at $0.058. zurelay also accepts the model names gemini-3.1-flash-image and google/gemini-3.1-flash-image.
Yes. Point the OpenAI SDK at https://api.zurelay.com/v1 and call images.generate with model nano-banana-2 and size 1K, 2K or 4K. aspect_ratio is not an OpenAI field, so pass it through extra_body in the Python SDK or as an extra body property in Node.
On zurelay, three resolutions: 1K, 2K and 4K. Ten aspect ratios: 1:1, 2:3, 3:2, 3:4, 4:3, 4:5, 5:4, 9:16, 16:9 and 21:9. If you leave size out, you get 1K, and if you leave aspect_ratio out, the model picks the shape. Google's own API also has a 0.5K size and the 1:4, 4:1, 1:8 and 8:1 ratios, which zurelay doesn't offer.
Google calls Nano Banana 2 its versatile, general-purpose image model, balancing speed with 4K output, and Nano Banana Pro its premium choice for the most complex visual tasks, with the most world knowledge, advanced localization, brand consistency and precise creative control. Google lists Nano Banana 2 lower at every resolution. On zurelay both take the same request, so compare them on your own prompts, and check both price tables, because the gap between them depends on the resolution.
No. On Google's API, Nano Banana 2 accepts up to 14 reference images per request: up to 10 of objects and up to 4 of characters. zurelay's images endpoint is text-to-image only, so image inputs, edits and Google Search grounding are not available.
By default you get a signed URL for each image, and images are kept for 30 days. Set response_format to b64_json to get base64 data in the response instead. Images are returned directly, not streamed. Prompts can be up to 32,000 characters, and n can be 1 to 4 images.
Yes, they come from the same model, and zurelay rejects any image that doesn't match Google's official size for your request. Every image carries Google's SynthID watermark. Generation is sampled, so the same prompt gives a different image each time on any API. zurelay is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
Create a key in seconds, point the SDK you already use at zurelay, and every request costs up to 85% less from the first token.
