Overview
FLUX 3 Image is Black Forest Labs' image model for text-to-image and image editing, up to 4K. The Zurelay FLUX 3 Image API makes images for $0.04 at 1K, $0.05 at 2K and $0.09 at 4K, against BFL's $0.048, $0.10 and $0.607, and edits an image you send at the same price.
FLUX 3 Image is the image model in Black Forest Labs' FLUX 3 family, released on October 1, 2026. One model makes new images and edits: the prompt decides which. On Zurelay it uses the model ID flux-3-image, and also accepts black-forest-labs/flux-3-image and bfl/flux-3-image.
BFL prices it per image by resolution: $0.048 at 1K, $0.10 at 2K and $0.607 at 4K. Zurelay charges $0.04, $0.05 and $0.09, and an edit costs the same as a new image.
Send a prompt to POST /v1/images/generations with size 1K, 2K or 4K and an optional aspect_ratio, one of 15 shapes from 21:9 to 9:21: 21:9, 2:1, 16:9, 3:2, 7:5, 4:3, 5:4, 1:1, 4:5, 3:4, 5:7, 2:3, 9:16, 1:2 or 9:21. Sizes have the same area at every shape: about one megapixel at 1K, four at 2K (2736 × 1536 for 16:9) and sixteen at 4K (5472 × 3072 for 16:9). A 1K image in a shape other than square can come back at the 2K size, at the 1K price; Zurelay retries any image smaller than asked or in another shape.
To edit, send one image in images, or as a file to /v1/images/edits, and describe the change; without an aspect_ratio, the result keeps the shape of the image you send. FLUX 3 renders legible text, can place things where you ask with layout boxes written into the prompt, and can look up recent facts on the web while it draws.
Strengths
$0.09 for a 16-megapixel image, against BFL's $0.607, and $0.05 at 2K against $0.10.
From 21:9 banners and 2:1 headers to 9:16 stories and 9:21 tall posters, with each image's size checked before it's delivered.
Words in quotes come out legible, and layout boxes in the prompt put each element where you drew it.
Change a color, an object or the weather and keep everything else in the picture as it was.
Use cases
Draft promos with the copy in the image, in the exact shape each channel needs.
Make 4K images straight from the model for print, wallpapers and website headers.
Place a logo, a product and a headline in set spots with layout boxes.
Recolor a product, swap a background or change the season in a photo you already have.

Yes. Send one image in images on /v1/images/generations, as an https URL or a base64 data URL, or as a file to /v1/images/edits with the OpenAI SDK, and describe the change. Without an aspect_ratio, the result keeps the shape of the image you send. Combining several reference images isn't available on Zurelay yet.
Tag each element in the prompt, like <sun_1>, and end the prompt with a JSON list of boxes: id, a bbox of [x1, y1, x2, y2] on a 0 to 1000 grid, and a short description. FLUX 3 puts each element inside its box. Set aspect_ratio to the shape you drew the boxes for.
Yes. Point the OpenAI SDK at https://api.zurelay.com/v1 and call images.generate with model flux-3-image and size 1K, 2K or 4K. Pass aspect_ratio through extra_body in Python or as an extra body property in Node.
