Overview
Nano Banana 2 Lite (Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image) is Google's efficiency model in the Nano Banana family, built for low latency and low cost at 1K. The Zurelay Nano Banana 2 Lite API makes and edits 1K images from a prompt and up to 14 reference images for $0.016 an image, 52% below Google's $0.0336, and checks every image against Google's official size.
Google released Nano Banana 2 Lite, API name gemini-3.1-flash-lite-image, on June 30, 2026, as the low-latency, low-cost member of the Nano Banana family. It makes images at 1K only, which suits drafts, thumbnails, stickers, chat and quick edits such as recoloring a product or swapping a background. On Zurelay it uses the model ID nano-banana-2-lite and also accepts Google's name.
Google prices it at $30 per million image output tokens, $0.0336 for a 1K image, half of Nano Banana 2. Zurelay charges $0.016 an image, generation or edit, and failed attempts are not billed.
Send a prompt to POST /v1/images/generations with an optional aspect_ratio: 1:1, 2:3, 3:2, 3:4, 4:3, 4:5, 5:4, 9:16, 16:9 or 21:9. It's the same request as the other Nano Banana models, so switching is a one-word change. To edit or combine pictures, add up to 14 reference images in images, or send them as files to /v1/images/edits. Zurelay checks every image's pixel dimensions against Google's official size for the shape you asked for, and one that doesn't match counts as a failed attempt.
There's no 2K or 4K: for large prints and detailed hero images, use Nano Banana 2 or Nano Banana Pro. Every image carries Google's invisible SynthID watermark.
Strengths
$0.016 an image, 52% below Google's own price, for generation and edits alike.
Recolor a product, simplify a background or change one detail, and compare versions fast.
Combine people, products and places from several images into one scene.
Every image is measured against Google's official pixel size for your shape, so a different model can't stand in for it.
Use cases
Try many ideas cheaply at 1K, then render the keeper with Nano Banana 2 or Pro at 2K or 4K.
Feed a product photo and ask for each colorway or setting, one cheap call each.
Small images where speed and price matter more than resolution.
Low cost per call makes it practical to put image editing in front of every user.

Yes. Send up to 14 images in images on /v1/images/generations, as https URLs or base64 data URLs, or as files to /v1/images/edits with the OpenAI SDK's images.edit, and describe the change. An edit costs the same as a new image.
Yes. Point the OpenAI SDK at https://api.zurelay.com/v1 and call images.generate with model nano-banana-2-lite. aspect_ratio is not an OpenAI field, so pass it through extra_body in the Python SDK or as an extra body property in Node.
