LLM API cost calculator. Every model, one workload.

Pick a workload or type your own: requests a month, tokens in and out, and how much of the prompt is cached. See what it costs on 45 chat models, at each lab's list price and on Zurelay, cheapest first.

A support or assistant chat: short turns with some history.

45 models, cheapest first

Live prices in US dollars. Cached input uses each model's cache rate, and prompts past a long-prompt threshold use the higher tier. The struck-through figure is the same month at the lab's list price. Prices are also free to reuse as JSON or CSV, with a link back.

How it works

Three numbers decide the bill. And one discount.

Input tokens are everything you send: the system prompt, the conversation so far, documents and tool definitions. Output tokens are what the model writes back, thinking included, and cost several times more each. Multiply both by the number of requests.

Cached input is the discount. When the start of a prompt repeats, as it does for agents and long chats, most labs bill it at a fraction of the input price. Keep the parts that don't change at the top of the prompt to get it.

Running Claude Code? The Claude Code page breaks down cache prices for every Claude model, and the cheapest LLM APIs page ranks every model for a typical request.

Every price on the right is what that model costs on Zurelay, through one OpenAI-compatible key, with prepaid credit from $10 and no subscription.

How do you calculate LLM API cost?

Multiply the tokens you send by the input price and the tokens you get back by the output price, both per 1M tokens, then by the number of requests. Input read from the prompt cache is billed at the lower cached rate, and some models bill long prompts at a higher tier. The calculator does all of that for every model at once.

What counts as a token?

A piece of a word. In English, 1,000 tokens is roughly 750 words, but each lab's tokenizer splits text a little differently, and images, PDFs and audio count as tokens too. Your API responses report the exact numbers in their usage field.

Which LLM API is cheapest?

For a chatbot of 50,000 requests a month (1,500 tokens in, 300 out), the cheapest chat model on Zurelay right now is DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731, at $2.84 a month. Change the workload above to see how the ranking moves: output-heavy and cache-heavy work rank models differently.

Why is output so much more expensive than input?

Generating a token takes far more compute than reading one, so labs price output several times higher. Capping max_tokens and asking for short answers usually saves more than anything else.

Where do the list prices come from?

From each lab's published API pricing. Cached input in the list column is discounted by the same ratio Zurelay's cache price uses, and long prompts move to the lab's higher tier where it has one.
