What Hermes Agent can do with Zurelay.

Hermes Agent is Nous Research’s open-source agent for the terminal, Telegram, Discord and more. It installs skills from a URL, adds remote MCP servers in its config.yaml and runs on any custom endpoint, so Zurelay plugs in with one command and a key.

One command

hermes skills install with Zurelay’s skill URL, and the key in ~/.hermes/.env. Or paste the setup message and Hermes does both.

Tools if you prefer

Add Zurelay’s MCP server under mcp_servers and reload: generate_video, generate_image and generate_speech show up as tools.

Any model, one key

Run Hermes on Claude, GPT, Gemini, DeepSeek and more through Zurelay’s OpenAI-compatible endpoint, mostly below list price.

Set it up

Connect Hermes Agent. A few minutes, once.

You need a Zurelay account with some credit (from $10). Sign up and the dashboard opens on Hermes Agent’s setup.

    Quickest: paste the setup message into Hermes. It saves the key and installs the Zurelay skill.

    By hand: install the skill with hermes skills install https://zurelay.com/skills/zurelay/SKILL.md and put the key in ~/.hermes/.env. Agents that prefer tools can use the MCP server instead (MCP tab), then /reload-mcp.

  3. 3

    To run Hermes on Zurelay’s models, run hermes model, choose Custom endpoint and enter the base URL, your key and a model ID (API mode chat_completions). Switch mid-chat with /model custom:<model-id>.

Which API mode should Hermes use for Zurelay’s models?

chat_completions. Zurelay serves Chat Completions and the Anthropic Messages API, not OpenAI’s Responses API.

Can Hermes write its own Zurelay skill?

It can, but the published skill is kept current with live models and prices, so install it from the URL and update it the same way.

What does it cost?

Zurelay is prepaid, with no subscription. Videos cost from $0.019 a second, images from $0.016 each and speech from about $0.008 a minute, the same as through the API. Failed requests are free, and a video is charged only when it’s delivered.

How do I stop Hermes Agent from spending too much?

Every connection is a key on your Keys page with a daily limit. Lower it, or revoke the key to disconnect. Your balance is a hard stop too: with auto-recharge off, nothing runs once it’s empty.
